My
immediate environment has always played an integral role in my artmaking
process, not
only creating works in and of the landscape but causing an awareness of my own
immediate impact on the environment. This
has triggered my investigation into the ecological effects of large scale
developments in ecologically sensitive areas such as estuaries, wetlands and
floodplains.
Recent
works I aim to address ideas around rewilding - a progressive approach to
conservation. It's about letting nature take care of itself, enabling natural
processes to shape land and sea, repair damaged ecosystems and restore degraded
landscapes. Through rewilding, wildlife's natural rhythms create wilder, more
biodiverse habitats.
Process I mostly work with monotype and one-off prints, which allows me to experiment with a wide range of materials, surfaces and non-traditional printmaking techniques - perfect for an artist such as myself who likes working fast.
The unpredictable nature of working this way is what attracts me to this form of printmaking.
