STATEMENT
I'm an artmaker based in Johannesburg.
My art practice comprises mainly print, though I rarely make editions, preferring to exploit the characteristic of the multiple offered by printmaking to create thematic series of works. Lately, I have also been drawing in various media, and creating artist's books. Due to my fascination with the narrative that develops within a series, I often have four or five bodies of work on the go. Each one feeds into the others as I'm working, triggering further ideas, and I have learnt to move between them. I find reading poetry brings the world into perspective; and I have a dozen other books that I return to for inspiration.
For many years, my work dealt with different aspects of human relationships, but my recent work comments more on humankind’s relationship with the planet on which we exist, but continually abuse. My imagery arises through focused contemplation of small natural objects that are often overlooked.
